Ophthalmologist

Dr. James Tammaro is a board-certified ophthalmologist with 33 years of experience providing comprehensive medical and surgical care. He specializes in cataract surgery, glaucoma management, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), YAG laser procedures and ocular surface surgery. Known for his extensive surgical expertise and patient-centered approach, Dr. Tammaro is committed to helping patients achieve improved vision and long-term eye health through advanced treatment techniques and individualized care.

Dr. Tammaro earned his Doctor of Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine with high honors after graduating summa cum laude from Rice University with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry and biochemistry. He completed a transitional internship at St. Joseph Hospital, where he was named Intern of the Year, followed by his ophthalmology residency at Oregon Health & Science University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Tammaro has performed thousands of cataract procedures and has extensive experience with advanced surgical technologies and glaucoma procedures including Hydrus, iStent, ECP and SLT. He has also performed YAG laser vitreolysis and pterygium excision with grafting and has owned and operated a successful ophthalmology and surgery center practice.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Tammaro is certified by both the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Board of Eye Surgeons. He remains dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality care while staying at the forefront of modern ophthalmic surgery and treatment advancements.
